Private Tour of Blackpool Gardens
with Sir Geoffrey Newman
In 1896 Robert Lydston Newman, then Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, began creating a plantsman’s garden on land bought one hundred years earlier by his ancestor, privateer Richard Newman. From the outset, the garden was designed to showcase plants from around the world, and for the last eighteen years Sir Geoffrey Newman has been restoring the gardens, creating new areas and adding plants from his own travels.
Due to the nature of the garden - sloping narrow paths – tour numbers will be limited, however, if there are sufficient bookings we may well arrange a second tour at 11a.m.
Lunch and refreshments are available in the Venus Café on the beach at Blackpool Sands, but it might be advisable to book in advance (telephone 01803 770209).
When: Tuesday 17th April 2018 | from 2 p.m.
