James Herbert Veitch profileJames Herbert Veitch was born as the first son of John Gould snr. and Jane Hodge in 1868. He was educated at Crawford College in Maidenhead and worked at the Chelsea nursery from 1885. He travelled the wold collecting plants from 1891 and his accounts are noted in A Traveller’s Notes (1896). He became the managing director of James Veitch & Sons Ltd. in 1898 and married his wife Lucy Elizabeth Wood the same year. He died, childless, in 1907.
